FalcoeirasBr participation in the Third edition of the Falconry meeting ENF

O grupo FalcoeirasBr foi criado no início do ano pela Alessandra Oliveto, com o objetivo de reunir e incentivar a participação das mulheres na Falcoaria Brasileira, e desde a sua criação é presença constante nos eventos de falcoaria nacionais e internacional. No III ENF (Encontro Nordeste de Falcoaria) organizado pela ANF (Associação Nordeste de Falcoaria) as mulheres se destacaram mais uma vez.

The group FalcoeirasBr was created in the beginning of this year by Alessandra Oliveto, with the aim of uniting and motivating the participation of women in Brazilian Falconry, and since its creation the group has constantly participated in international and national events of falconry. In the third edition of ENF (Northeast Falconry meeting) organized by ANF (Northeast Falconry association) the women detached one more time.

O III ENF foi um evento que reuniu falcoeiros do Nordeste, Norte e

Sudeste do Brasil, e que ganha força a cada edição, mostrando a todos a qualidade da falcoaria que é praticada nesta região tão importante do Brasil. Como bem frisou Dorival Lima, presidente da ANF, a falcoaria do Nordeste sempre foi forte, só faltava a ela visibilidade sendo que esta foi conquistada graças aos seus eventos e ao lançamento do primeiro livro de falcoaria do Brasil pela ANF. O grupo FalcoeirasBr estava mais uma vez presente neste evento, contribuindo para o seu sucesso.

The IIIENF was an event that gathered falconers from the Northeast, North and Southeast of Brazil, and that in each edition it becomes stronger, showing to everyone the quality of falconry that is being done in this so important region of Brazil. The president of ANF, Dorival Lima, emphasized that the falconry done in the Northeast of Brazil has always been strong, but it needed more visibility, which was given thanks to the events called ENF and also the release of the first Brazilian book of falconry in the beginning of this year.

 

Presença massiva

Pela primeira vez foi possível reunir um grande número das meninas do grupo FalcoeirasBr em um evento de falcoaria no Brasil. Participaram umas 10 meninas, entre falcoeiras, aspirantes e reabilitadoras, e foi uma excelente oportunidade de interação e troca de experiências entre as integrantes. Essa participação é muito importante, pois fortalece o grupo e dá mais visibilidade à presença feminina na falcoaria.

Massive presence

For the first time it was possible to gather a big number of girls from the group FalcoeirasBr in a falconry meeting in Brazil. There were ten girls participating, among falconers, beginners and rehabilitators, and it was an excellent opportunity of interaction and exchange of experiences among the girls of the group. This participation is very important because it makes the group stronger and gives more visibility to the female presence in falconry.

A competição

Duas de nossas integrantes participaram da competição de falcoaria, Ively Maluna com seu parabuteo Osco, e Alessandra Oliveto com seu parabuteo Tanatus e o femoralis Ali. Tanto Osco como Tanatus fizeram belas capturas sendo que Tanatus ganhou o terceiro lugar na competição de gaviões. Ali garantiu o segundo lugar na competição de falcões com belas passadas no lure. Parabéns as duas pela participação na competição e a Alessandra por seus prêmios. Esperamos que nas próximas edições do ENF mais meninas participem e levem suas aves.

The competition

Two of our members participated in the falconry competition, Ively Maluna with her parabuteo unicinctus called Osco, and Alessandra Oliveto with her parabuteo unicinctus called Tanatus and her falco femoralis called Ali. Osco and Tanatus made nice catches and Tanatus won the third prize in the hawk´s competition, and Ali won the second prize in the lure fly competition for falcons. Congratulations to both girls in participating in the competition and to Alessandra for winning two prizes. We hope that in the next editions of ENF more girls participate and bring their birds to the meeting.

Em entrevista cedida para o site Falcoaria Online, Alessandra Oliveto fala sobre a importância da participação das meninas nos eventos de falcoaria, sobre a organização de um encontro do grupo FalcoeirasBr e sobre a grande visibilidade que o grupo está adquirindo a cada dia.

Interview

In an interview given to the website Falcoaria Online, Alessandra Oliveto talks about the importance of the participation of the women from FalcoeirasBr in falconry meetings, about the organization of a FalcoeirasBr meeting  and about the big visibility the group is acquiring every day.

Pela primeira vez tivemos uma grande participação das meninas do grupo FalcoeriasBr em um evento de falcoaria. Você já está pensando em organizar um encontro do grupo?

Sim, temos conversado muito sobre isso. Antes do grupo FalcoeirasBr não sabíamos quantas meninas estavam na falcoaria, só algumas apareciam por que trabalham em empresas de controle, mas após a criação do grupo apareceram várias querendo aprender, muitas que trabalham em áreas afins como reabilitação, educação ambiental, fotografia de aves de rapina ou que até mesmo que tem uma coruja como pet mas que gostam da falcoaria e querem aprender. Já somos umas 20 meninas e estamos organizando um encontro para o próximo ano.

For the first time we had a big presence of the girls from the female falconer group FalcoeirasBr in a falconry event. Are you considering organizing a meeting of the group?

Yes, we have been talking a lot about this. Before the group FalcoeirasBr we didn´t know how many girls were in falconry, only a few were known because they work in fauna control companies, but after the creation of the group many girls appeared wanting to learn, and others that work with rehabilitation, environmental education, wildlife photography or even the ones that have a pet owl but are interested in learning about falconry. We have already 20 members and we are organizing our first meeting for the next year.

No encontro da IAF houve a participação de algumas meninas do grupo FalcoeirasBr e agora também no III ENF, qual a importância das integrantes participarem de eventos de falcoaria?

As mulheres sempre estiveram nos bastidores, as meninas já existiam, mas não havia um grupo para mostrar elas e por isso nos eventos elas não se destacavam ou se faziam notar. No III ENF dez mulheres entre falcoeiras, aspirantes e reabilitadoras participaram. As mulheres podem fazer tudo o que os homens fazem inclusive fazer até melhor porque temos mais sensibilidade com as aves, com o manejo. As mulheres falcoeiras não tem problema pra enfiar o pé na lama e pular cerca, tudo pelo amor à falcoaria, e temos que participar da mesma forma que os meninos participam, se sujando, resolvendo os problemas sozinha, etc.

In the IAF meeting this year some members of FalcoeirasBr participated and now more girls participated in the III ENF, what is the importance of its member’s participation in falconry events?

Women have always been in the backstage of falconry in Brazil, the girls were already there but there was no visibility because there wasn´t a group to show them and because of this in the falconry events the girls didn´t show up. In the III ENF ten wo

men among falconers, rehabilitators and beginners participated. Women can do everything man can do, and even do things better because we have a strong sensibility with the birds, with the training. Women falconers don´t have problem to get dirty in the mood or jump fences, we do everything we need because we love falconry, and we need to participate in the same way as men do, getting dirty, solving the problems alone, etc.

Quais são os projetos futuros do FalcoeirasBr?

No encontro da IAF percebemos que já temos uma visibilidade muito boa, mesmo tendo sido criado em Março deste ano. Nós percebemos que já temos muito apoio e já fomos convidadas  pelo representante do Qatar para participar de um evento, e também um evento do Pró-corujas no Rio. Nós queremos participar dos eventos que for possível, fazer o nosso encontro e divulgar o trabalho e progresso de cada uma dentro do mundo das aves de Rapina. O site permite que todos possam ir acompanhando o nosso trabalho e evolução.

What are the future aims of FalcoeirasBr?

In the IAF meeting this year we´ve noticed that we already have a very nice visibility, even the group being created in March 2015. We´ve noticed that we already have a lot of support and we have already been invited by Qatar´s representative to participate in an event there, and also to participate in an event in Brazil from a group called Pro-corujas in Rio de Janeiro. We want to participate in all events possible, have our meeting and to publicize our work and progress of each member in the falconry world. Our website allows everyone to follow our work and progress.

Considerações finais

O III ENF foi um evento fantástico, com clima amistoso e acolhedor, de amizade e confraternização como também de muito conhecimento compartilhado e novos aprendizados graças às incríveis palestras que foram administradas por especialistas e falcoeiros que são referencias no Brasil. A emoção esteve presente na competição de falcoaria, e Ively Maluna e Alessandra Oliveto nos representaram muito bem no campo.

Que cada vez mais as integrantes do FalcoeirasBr participem dos eventos de falcoaria, e que o grupo continue mostrando a todos que lugar de mulher é no campo voando aves de rapina!

Final Words

The III ENF was a fantastic event, with a friendly atmosphere of exchanging experience and learning thanks to great lectures with specialists and falconers that are reference in Brazil. Emotion was also present in the falconry competition, and Ively Maluna and Alessandra Oliveto represented our group very well in the field.

We hope that more members of the female falconry group FalcoeirasBr participate in falconry meetings, and that our group keeps showing to everyone that women belong to the field flying birds of prey!
